Things in 3's...

The last two weeks have been...interesting. Yeah, interesting, that's a good word. All three kids have had something major happen. First, Evan got five stitches. Next, we were told Alison has six cavities. Then, this week, EJ fractures the growth plate under his right ring finger while attempting to retrieve a basketball during recess. Luckily, he didn't need his finger casted, but two fingers are taped together. Jay took EJ over to the orthopedic doctor on Friday after the X-rays showed the fracture. Apparently I missed quite the comedic scene. As the doctor re-aligned EJ's bones, the child had tears streaming down his face and had his eyes crossed due to the pain. He didn't as so much make any noise. Jay said he also had tears streaming down his face because of EJ's facial expressions due to laughter. Later that afternoon, EJ was already saying how much better his finger felt. Of course, it's difficult for him to eat or write and he attempts to use the fracture as an excuse to get out of homework and eat like an animal! Because the fracture is right along the growth plate, EJ has to be extra careful as it mends. He could end up having a ring finger that is shorter than the pinky next to it! He isn't allowed to play soccer for two weeks.
