1st graders singing/Meeting authors

Tonight's PTA meeting was actually quite fun for the kids. After the general meeting, the 1st graders sang three songs. They enjoyed themselves and the audience loved the last song, which had a few dance moves. I'll apologize now for the grainy pictures. Here are the kids - EJ is right in the middle wearing a green striped shirt.

After the first graders were done with their performance, we got to see two local authors use skits to advertise their children books. The first author, David Davis, choose kids from the audience to help re-enact his book Jazz Cats. He then helped the other author, Jan Peck, choose kids to re-enact her book The Giant Carrot. She also needed help to tell the story of her upcoming book, Pirate Treasure Hunt, which will be released in the fall. EJ was one of the kids chosen to help with this. You can see him yelling the word "treasure" in the microphone when asked, "What do pirates look for?"

The kids each had a book autographed by the authors. Ms. Peck thought Ali was the cutest thing! She did look cute tonight with her braids, didn't she? She hardly ever lets me fix her hair.
