OUR FIRST GARDEN
So, we really aren't supposed to take pictures of our garden since we are near a "secure" area, but seeing as I LOVE taking photos I snuck a few shots for ya! The garden plot is quite large - 30' x 75'. We didn't even use it all, but almost. On Sunday, it took us 7 hours to till, plant, and water this area and last night we went back to add strawberries for Alison. Jay is in the process of putting up the fence to keep out little critters. Yes, this is going to be a tedious adventure for us. That is okay with me, as long as SOMETHING grows so we can reap the rewards of our hard work.
Our planning for this massive undertaking should have started a month ago. Instead, Jay & I were up late on Friday night writing down where each vegetable should go. We are using the "companion gardening" technique. This is quite fascinating to me.
Did you know?
Strawberries grow well next to onions.
Marigolds are great planted throughout the garden to repel pests.
Native Americans use the "Three Sisters" approach, as did we attempt to follow it.
