Do you ever do something and wonder, "Why am I doing this to myself?"
This hike was definitely one of those moments for Jay & I. We knew it'd be challenging.
What we didn't know was it was more challenging than we thought!
What was once a railway track used to haul supplies to bunkers during World War II is now an
extremely challenging hike with 1,048 railroad ties to the top of this crater near Hawaii Kai.
Some reviews said it took just 25 minutes to get up there.
I say those people are crazy! Clearly, they are more active than I.
On this killer hike, it took us 45 minutes with some definite rests along the way.
Once you arrive at the end of the railroad ties, you still have yet to climb some rocky terrain.
That's easy compared to what you just accomplished! The views from up there are ridiculous!
Not only did we see Honolulu and Hanauma Bay, but we could see three other islands on this clear day.

| I'm acting all tough, but was nervous to do this one. |

| Jay stopping for a pic |
| Part way up you understand why you are doing this |
| Yes, it is this steep! |
Break time and admiring the view
(almost to the top) |
| Gorgeous flowers at the end of the railroad ties |
| FINALLY at the top and looking out around the crater |
| People will actually hike the ridges of these mountains |
| Don't look down |
| He likes to get close to the edge and give me a heart attack |
| Honolulu |
| Hanauma Bay |
| At the top |

Wherever there are bunkers, there is grafitti. It's not always gorgeous scenery wherever you look.
| Dirty feet hanging out while waiting for some friends |
My dear friend, Crystal, and her Hubby joined us at the top.
They were alot quicker than us. Glad we had a head start! |
| Coming down is quicker than going up! |
