The kids had their six month dental check-ups yesterday. EJ's teeth look perfect. The dentist told EJ, "You are going to save your parents lots of money" (because it doesn't look like he will need braces). He only has four baby teeth left in his mouth. Panoramic x-rays were taken and we could see just two impacted wisdom teeth on the bottom. They look like they may come up at an angle, so they'll probably need to be taken out.
Alison's teeth look good too, but she has to go back in April because she's worn the sealant off her back teeth. Apparently, she grinds her teeth. The dentist wants to re-apply it and check a "grey area" that has developed. Will this make filling #7? Panoramic x-rays were also taken on Alison. It's so cool to see the adult teeth under the gums ready to come up. She was so happy to report that she stopped sucking her fingers. She gladly reminded the dentist that she promised her two tokens if she did so.
Evan couldn't wait to put on the sunglasses. He had them on even before it was his turn to lay back in the chair. He chose raspberry flavored toothpaste, also had x-rays taken, and we learned his six year molars are almost all the way in! He just turned 5! If I remember correctly, Alison's six year molars started to come in at the end of her fourth year. Evan has some "grey areas" as well so he will join his sister at that April appointment. I'm hoping he doesn't need fillings, but I have a feeling he will need them. It seems his front bottom teeth will be the first to come out, which shouldn't be too much longer. This Mommy doesn't like to hear about her baby growing up!
