Three weeks ago, EJ took a test for Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth (CTY). It's a nationally based academic program that is normally given to students two or three grades older...meaning EJ was tested on criteria that a 5th or 6th grader would know. We received his results this weekend and, even though he was accepted into the CTY family, he only qualified for the Family Academic Program and ongoing educational resources that are available. There are online courses and summer programs, which he did not qualify for. We are extremely proud of EJ for taking this 2-hour test on a Saturday morning and for the results he did receive. In the verbal section, he is in the 23rd percentile compared to Grade 5 and in the math section, he is in the 42nd percentile compared to Grade 5. It's been a year since EJ joined Cub Scouts. He LOVES it so much! We just missed the Pinewood Derby last year, so he was extremely excited to participate this year. Although his car wasn't the fastest on the track, he came home with a smile and knowledge of how to win next year's races!!!
