EJ has been playing soccer since Spring 2005. We've had our up's and down's as he's been trained by various style of coaches and learned the game little by little. Some coaches push EJ more than others. He needs to be pushed because he is a great soccer player, but can get lazy! The child has quite the strong leg when he utilizes it. He is best at defense position (in front of the goal), but even better as goalie. Playing offense to EJ can be torturous some Saturdays. He is like his Mom...he is NOT a runner! When a player is on offense, they play the ball up and down the whole field. As defense, they stay back to defend their goal and don't pass mid-field. This season, EJ's coach noticed how strong a leg he has and how well he plays at goalie position. So every other Wednesday, EJ goes to goalie practice. The first week, EJ decided he was NOT going back. Ha...Mom & Dad decided otherwise! During that practice, EJ ran more and was pushed harder because of it being a focused training (goalie). I explained to him that this practice is two days a month out of thirty. He can and will go so he can be trained as a better goalie. Last week, EJ did much better and seemed to have more fun. I am thrilled that EJ can begin to focus on one soccer position. Hopefully, he'll decide to continue with soccer and learn more about the sport he's played since he was 4 years old!
Team huddle
EJ didn't care that the kid in blue was bigger than him! He charged right up to that ball and gave it a good kick!
