There was a time in our lives when we did not know a single person who was deployed. Not a one. Until you do, you typically live your everyday life forgetting that there is STILL A WAR GOING ON!! Men and women are protecting this country every moment of every day as we continue to go to Wal-Mart, visit family for the holidays, take our kids to school, etc.
Today, there are three familes we know that recently had to say goodbye to their husbands/daddy's for a deployment. It seems that since 9/11 this has been the trend. It's hard. So very hard. Until you live it, you NEVER truly understand the constant battle of feeling so utterly proud and so very sad that he/she is not around to share in the everyday simplicities.
I'd like to send a shout out to not only my friends that are "surviving" a deployment here in the good ole U. S. of A, but to those who are in harms way. I pray each and every day that GOD brings you home safely to your loved ones. Thank you, and your family, for your service. It is truly not lost on me or my family.
